Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority has merged with Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Authority

The NSW Government recently announced that the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority has been merged with the Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Authority as part of the changes to the regional service delivery model. From January, 2014 Local Land Services, a new regionally-based organisation will replace the Catchment Management Authorities, Livestock, Health & Pest Authorities and incorporate agricultural services currently provided by Agriculture NSW.

The Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Authority's area of operation now includes all the areas previously covered by the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority. Find a Volunteer Group

There are hundreds of environmental volunteer groups across Sydney, who all contribute to improving their local environment. Most volunteer groups are Bushcare or Landcare groups. These are community-based groups that undertake environmental volunteer work which is mostly done on public land, in bushland, wetlands and around waterways that are managed by local councils or NSW government agencies.

To find a group in Sydney:
1. Pick your local council area from the drop-down box.
(NOTE: if you want to look at a larger area, or don't know the local council, use the "All Councils" map).
2. To zoom in and out, use the + and - boxes on the left of the map.
3. To pan around the map, use the hand symbol to move up, down, left and right
4. To find out more details about a group, click on the red pin symbol

PLEASE NOTE: Details of times and locations can change. always check with the council/organisation that co-ordinates the volunteer group before going to a site for the first time. This map is an ongoing work in progress. Please let us know if any groups are missing, so that they can also be added.
