Botany Bay & Catchment Water Quality Improvement Plan

A water quality improvement plan (WQIP) has been developed for Botany Bay and its Catchment. It is based on the extensive scientific and modelling work, and community consultation undertaken in this catchment over the past few years.

Printed copies were sent to all councils in the Botany Bay Catchment as well as other key stakeholders in June 2011. We still have a limited number of printed copies so if you would like one please contact John Dahlenburg on (02) 9895 6244.

Development Process for the Botany Bay & Catchment WQIP

Previous studies and models have been incorporated into a Botany Bay Water Quality Decision Support System/Tool (DSS) that has been used to test a range of scenarios outline in the draft Botany Bay WQIP. The Botany Bay Water Quality DSS is now operational and has been designed to be used by councils as well.
To support the uptake and use of the Botany Bay Water Quality DSS by councils in the catchment training session were held in July 2010, October 2010 and May 2011. Those who attended the training received a free copy of the Botany Bay DSS. If you were unable to attend the training and would like to put your name on a waiting list for a future training session please send me an email to register your interest.

A Discussion Paper on the development of a Botany Bay WQIP was prepared to commence the consultation process. This document was used in the stakeholder workshops mentioned below. A copy can be downloaded by clicking on the link below. It was also put out for public comment from March to July 2010. The comments received on it via the workshop and public consultation process were used as the basis for developing the draft Botany Bay and Catchment WQIP.

A stakeholder workshop was also held in December 2009 that sought to identify the anticipated needs and suggested inclusions for the Botany Bay Water Quality Decision Support System/Tool and the Botany Bay and Catchment WQIP. The results of the workshops can be found in the documents below.
