Research Projects

Sydney University is researching the recent outbreaks of Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) in Botany Bay and the Georges River. They have a blog where you can follow their research progress. It's very interesting and well worth a look. The link to their blog is:

Community Organisations/Groups

Botany Bay Catchment Alliance (lists many of the community based environmental groups operating around Botany Bay). It also has pictures and information relating to Botany Bay.

The Cooks River Valley Association has a very long history in advocating for the protection and improvement of the Cooks River. The volunteers on the CRVA are involved in many environmental programs/projects including revegetation and water quality sampling.

The Wolli Creek Preservation Society is a very active community organisation focused on preserving the Wolli and Bardwell Creek valleys in a natural condition. They are active in the re-establishment of native flora and fauna in the area and development of the Wolli Creek valley as a passive outdoor recreational, educational and scientific resource.
